Christmas came early for the Dewitz family in the form of a new swimming pool remodel by C and R Pool Plastering, Inc. The Dewitzs’ chose a custom blended Gemstone Pebble interior pool finish using red black and gold stone. Anchoring the landscape is a massive water fall by Steve Spencer

New Swimming Pool Construction Featuring Gemstone Obsidian Pebble Plaster

C & R Pool Plastering has been busy doing swimming pool remodels and replastering but this new pool construction, plastered in the popular Gemstone pebble “Obsidian”, created a lot of excitement for us. In conjunction with Diamond Pools this Loomis pool project shows excellent landscape and pool design complete with vanishing edge, spa, pond with waterfall and an approach to the pool that has ‘pillars of fire’.

El Dorado Hills Swimming Pool Remodel / Replaster

We completed a swimming pool remodel project in El Dorado Hills that was featured in the March edition of the Home Improvement magazine. Working with the design team of Green Valley Nursery & Landscape, we removed the white standard plaster and replaced it with Gemstone’s Sandstone Obsidian Gold. Along with Green Valley Nursery, our team included Erik Johnson Tile and Jill Hardesty from Beyond the Gate Landscape Design.

Customer feedback from most recent Tahoe Blue replaster and remodel in Roseville

Just a quick note of thanks for all the great work C&R [and the subs] did on our recent pool remodeling project. The project included new Tahoe blue plaster, new tile, repair lights, repair bench in spa, repair water fall & correct serious leakage problems. Everyone from the owners to the workers did a fantastic job for an unexpected low cost. Now the pool is ready to use by our family & friends for at least another 10-15 years.

Swimming Pool Remodel – Citrus Heights-Gemstone Pebble Finish

Replastered swimming pool with Gemstone Obsidian Exposed Aggregate Pool Plaster

Many swimming pool contractors in the Sacramento region have provided Sacramento homeowners over the years with swimming pool/spa combinations. While at the time this option sounded great to homeowners, this type of spa was the “Poor Man’s Spa.” Yes, we know we might ruffle some feathers, but truth be told, not one swimming pool contractor would put this in their backyard. Why? These spas are horribly energy inefficient and therapeutically lacking. The design of this spa is usually done with the addition of a spa dam wall. The spa is operated by an oversized pool pump, which whether you are in the spa or not, you are using a large amount of energy to filter your pool 365 days a year. And, these spas were usually controlled manually.

In contrast, a well designed spa has an automated control system, a separate pump for the jets and the jets were looped meaning the pressure output of the jets were equal. Unlike the “Poor Man’s Spa,” where the jets are in a straight line, the first jet had the most pressure and the last jet had little pressure.

Pool safety and your children

(NC)-Swimming pools are great ways to have fun and relax – but make sure you follow a few basic safety tips to make your leisure time as safe as possible this summer. And keep in mind – adult supervision is essential at all times when children are using a pool.

Keep a cordless phone or cell phone nearby while the pool is in use for emergencies. If you need to leave the pool area, make sure another adult is present to supervise young bathers. When the pool is not being used, make sure it is covered by a safety cover.

When the pool is uncovered, it can be a tempting playground for children. For added safety, keep pool toys out of the water when not being used and store them out of sight. Never leave toys on the deck or leave a table or chairs near a pool fence that could allow a child to climb over into the pool area.

Make sure you have a clear, unobstructed view of the pool from inside the house and never allow horseplay or roughhousing (dunking, pushing or throwing someone into the pool) or playful screaming for help that could mask a real emergency.

Enclose your yard with a permanent fence with a self-closing, self-latching gate and install a portable mesh fence around the immediate pool perimeter to keep children out of the pool once they are in the backyard.

All doors leading from the house to the pool should also have a self-latching, self-closing mechanism and all windows should have window locks installed to prevent a child from climbing through.
